Starcraft 2 has been on the horizon for more than two years and in that time, players have been eagerly anticipating getting their hands on it. The idea of a brand new Starcraft that would include new campaigns, new units, and all new graphics was more than just exciting – it was incredible. Now that Starcraft 2 is finally here, a lot of old school players who only made it through the single player and never tried multiplayer due to the lack of technology back in the day are jumping on board the multiplayer wagon. And like me, you might wondering if it’s something you’ll be able to pull off.

What’s Different in Multiplayer?

To start with, you’re up against human opponents, which means you’re at war. You must outthink an intelligent, skilled opponent who has the tools needed to defeat players better than you. It’s a tough route, and when you’re just getting used to playing the game and you’re up against players who have been playing since 1998, it’s tough to know when you’ll finally start winning.

Do You Need Help in Starcraft 2?

When Starcraft 2 was first announced, there was universal elation. Players everywhere were overwhelmingly excited that they’d finally get to continue the story of the first game and that they’d have the tools in hand to do it on next-gen computers and with updated RTS rules and strategies. But, for newbie players, the idea of going up against players who have been at it for the last 12 years is a bit overwhelming.

While I played my fair share of Starcraft back in the day, it’s been a long time and I’m rust. Scratch that, I’m beyond rusty. I’m disintegrated. And that means I’m starting pretty much from nothing, along with millions of other potential players who will be hoping to hold their own in multiplayer on Battle.net.

If you’re one of those players, you may be wondering if you need help in Starcraft 2. The question has a lot of merit (and I have it myself), so what should be the line at which you finally take the leap and go looking for help?

• Can You Win – If you can’t win matches in Bronze on 1v1, you’re probably not doing something right. Eventually, practice should get you at least to Silver status.

• You Don’t Understand Instructions – If you’re in 2v2 or 4v4 matches and don’t understand the instructions you’re being given, it’s time to find a bit of help to overcome the confusion.

• You’re Not Having Fun – It’s a game. If you’re getting destroyed so hard that you’re not having fun, what’s the point? Get help and start having fun again.

The bottom line is that Starcraft 2 is a huge new game, but it’s only going to be enjoyable if you can play it at the level you were hoping. So, find some help and start playing it with the best gurus out there. You may not hit Platinum status overnight, but I’ll bet you start winning some matches and having some real fun a lot quicker.

Building the Perfect Starcraft 2 Strategy Guide

There are already half a dozen strategy guides for sale on the Internet that promise to help new and old players alike to master the content in Starcraft 2. But, like any good player, I am a bit skeptical that they can do that. So, I wanted to write up a few things that I would need to see in a strategy guide before I’d lay down my own cold hard cash on it.

Actually Useful Introduction

All the introductory content out there can be a little condescending. I don’t want to read how stupid some guru player thinks I am. I want to know how to play the game and beat that guru. So, let’s lay out some truly useful, well written strategies that go through the basics of mastering the content in the game from step one on.

Multiple Builds and Difficulties

If the writer only plays Zerg, they’re only going to offer Zerg strategies that work. I need strategies for all three races and they need to be catered to different difficulty levels, different opponents, and different play outs. If they’re not going to work the same way across multiple scenarios, I want to know and have the tools to adjust.

Shortcuts and Examples

A good strategy guide had better include screenshots, videos and charts to illustrate what I need to do. I want hotkeys, video examples, and images of what is happening in those descriptions. Without those examples, what’s the point of all the money going into the product.

In short, a strategy guide really needs to lay out good strategies and then show me how they work. I’ve seen quite a few strategy guides out there and they all work in their own way, but so far I’m most interested in Starcraft 2 Mastery. It offers all of the information I’ve outlined above and more, making it a great option for top level players and newbies alike.

The game is brand new and yet it’s already starting to look like the very heavily saturated market of guides that have turned World of Warcraft into a secondary market. I often wonder who is writing these guides, but not quite as much as I wonder what kind of content they can possibly offer that people would pay so much money to read them.

But, the vast majority of strategies have problems, for a variety of reasons. To start with, the game has been in beta for a long time and a lot has changed. Second, too many strategies are based heavily on the older Starcraft model – making assumptions that don’t always play out when you start playing the new game in 2010.

So, that’s why there is quite a bit of attention paid to new guides like Starcraft 2 Mastery – recently released at sc2mastery.com. The newest addition to the strategy guide market has been getting a lot of attention from players who are still looking for a truly complete and comprehensive take on the market. But, does it pan out the way that everyone has been hoping for?

That’s going to be entirely up to the players as they dig in and start using the strategies laid out in the guide, but a quick look through the guide will give you quite a bit to think on. First, you’ll find more than 50 strategies, built around a variety of tactics for each of the three races. Argent Tournament Daily Quest Guide

The Argent Tournament Grounds are located in the northern part of Icecrown, and they hold a gold mind of daily quests that any World of Warcraft player is sure to enjoy. There are several reasons WoW players might choose to complete the daily quests at the Argent Tournament Grounds. Of course these are the usual reasons like gold and reputation, but the Argent Tournament dailies work a bit differently than other WoW dailies.

The Argent Tournament

To become eligible for the daily quests at the Argent Tournament grounds, you must first complete prerequisite quests. You’ll start with “The Argent Tournament,” and then move on to “Mastery of Melee,” “Mastery of the Charge,” and Mastery of the Shield-breaker.” After this quest chain is complete, then you move on to “Up to the Challenge” and are eligible for the daily quests at the Argent Tournament Grounds.

Reputation from the Argent Tournament Daily Quests

The major difference between the Argent Tournament daily quests and the WoW dailies in other parts of the game is that it’s not always cut and dry which faction you’re earning reputation for. You can eventually earn reputation with all five of your faction’s capital cities, but you will start out earning reputation for your home capital city. For example, dwarves will be earning reputation with Ironforge and Tauren will be gaining reputation with Thunder Bluff, and so on. You can later earn the right to also represent some of the other capital cities in your faction. Some of these quests will also give you reputation with either the Silver Covenant (Alliance) or the Sunreavers (Horde).

Rewards from the Argent Tournament Grounds

The Argent Tournament Grounds also has its own hierarchy as far as reputation goes. You have to earn titles for your character before you can be eligible for the higher daily quests. For example, you have to begin by earning the title of Champion. Next, you’ll work on the title of Crusader, and each of these levels within the Argent Tournament Ground has its own rewards, which include heirloom gear that’s bind-on-account and some level 200 gear. All rewards in the Argent Tournament Grounds are purchased with Champion’s Seals, which are earned by running the Argent Tournament daily quests.

Most Importantly: Have Fun!

The most important thing to remember about the Argent Tournament Grounds is that they can be a lot of fun. Many of the daily quests in the Argent Tournament Grounds involve jousting and battling opponents in an arena, and these daily quests are quite a bit different than other WoW dailies. Of course there are the quests that involve going to an area and killing a specific type of creature, but many WoW players simply enjoy the unique nature of the daily quests that are available at the Argent Tournament Grounds.

A Daily Quest Guide for World of Warcraft

There are so many parts of World of Warcraft to explore that it can be easy to miss out on some areas, but one part of WoW that no player can afford to miss out on is the daily quests. WoW dailies are the ones that appear as a blue exclamation point from the quest giver. If you can complete the daily quest, then it shows up on your mini map as a blue question mark. A daily quest is one that can be repeated once a day, every day, for as long as it benefits your character. Now you might be asking why any WoW player would repeat the same quests for several days, and there are few reasons.

Special Rewards

One of the most important things gained from completing WoW dailies is reputation, and the bonuses that can be purchased after reputation is earned with various factions are phenomenal. Of course not every class and race will benefit from earning reputations from all of the factions, so it’s a good idea to check out a WoW dailies guide like Dugi’s Dailies and Events Guide. These guides will highlight which classes and races will benefit from reputation with the various factions. For example, tanks will want to earn reputation with the Argent Crusade so they can purchase a special head enchantment, but melee DPS would be better suited to earn reputation with the Knights of the Ebon Blade because the enchantment offered by that faction increases attack power rather than survivability.

Plenty of Gold

Another reason so many WoW players complete daily quest chains is because they are a very stable way to earn gold. Of course if you play that risk correctly, you have the opportunity to make a lot of gold in a short amount of time, but there’s just no stability in making gold on the auction house. Access to Rare Designs, Patterns, and Recipes

WoW players of certain professions will also need to complete daily quests, although these quests are a bit different than other daily quests. Jewel crafting is the only primary profession that requires daily quests, and jewel crafters need to complete them to earn their jewel crafter’s token. These tokens are used to purchase rare and epic gems, so it would be silly to miss out on them.
Players who are leveling fishing and cooking will also need to complete daily quests so they can eventually be able to make the fish feast, a cooking item used in raids to help increase overall DPS, healing, and life of all raid members.

If you haven’t taken advantage of the daily quests on World of Warcraft, then you’re missing out on a lot of important bonuses, gear, and enchantments. Many players believe that they should stop doing quests altogether the moment they reach level 80. However, level 80 should be the time to really focus on doing daily quests to earn gold and reputation with various factions. Of course you’ll always need gold to purchase crafted gear, gems, and enchanting materials so you can gear up to run Icecrown Citadel, and WoW dailies give you a steady source of income, which is perfect for those players who just don’t understand the auction house system very much. Running WoW dailies can earn you an average of 300 gold for running all of your daily quests. Each character can run 25 quests per day, and many of them pay an average of 13 gold per quest.

The Importance of Reputation

One thing that’s often overlooked on World of Warcraft is reputation. It may seem like reputation just isn’t worth the time, but there are some factions that have rewards which make it very helpful to have an exalted status with them. Reputation isn’t too important as you’re leveling, but when you reach level 80, you’re going to need to purchase special enchantments from certain factions. Even enchanters will want to work on their reputation with these factions because the enchantments offered as rewards cannot be handed out by enchanters.
One of the first reputations you should work on through your WoW dailies is the Sons of Hodir. These daily quests are located in the Storm Peaks area, and you may even have completed some of them while you were leveling your character. The Sons of Hodir offer enchantments for pretty much every class, in addition to special gem designs for jewel crafters, rare and epic mounts, and the tailoring pattern for the 22-slot glacial bag. To purchase any of the rewards from the Sons of Hodir, just visit the quartermaster in the Storm Peaks area.

Planning Your Route

Since you’re able to do 25 daily quests per day, you might be wondering just how quickly you can get them done. After all, you probably don’t want to spend all day playing World of Warcraft, no matter how much you enjoy the game. However, you can actually get your WoW dailies done in two hours or less if you plan your route carefully. You can’t waste any time traveling between daily quests, so you’ve got to do as many of them in one area at the same time as you possibly can. A NEW SEO EXPERIMENT – By Jason Smith

Dear SEO Enthusiast,

There is a reason why this blog is called:

A NEW SEO EXPERIMENT – The Coolest Guy on The Planet – By Jason Smith

I’m going to try an experiment with some “White Hat” SEO techniques.
I’ve studied some of the best out there, white hats and black hats.
I’ve learned a lot (and am still learning) from all of them.

I remember reading about this “The Coolest Guy on The Planet” contest that was going on a few years back, and honestly kinda just forgot about it.
I was out updating some of my sites & blogs and thought… hummmm…
Let me try a little experiment and see if I can bump myself up to #1 or #2 on Google.

Now don’t get me wrong here I don’t have a big head, and I’m not one to think,
“Oh yeah Jason Smith is the Coolest Guy on The Planet”

No… This is just an experiment and a test to see how well this will work.

As of May 18th 2010, here’s what I can see on Google for the term Coolest Guy on the Planet.

Well there’s a guy at #1 with the initials JL and actually has the website “coolest guy on the planet (dot) org.”

And there’s another guy at #2, (M i k e F i l s i m e) we’ll call him MF.
He owns the site “the coolest guy on the planet (dot) com.”

Well those two might be hard to knock off since they own the actual site name of the title we’re using here. (or close to it) But we’ll just have to see how this works.

This blog is a case study in progress.
You see, one of the great top SEO genius I’ve learned from is a guy named B r a d F a l l o n. (Reason for spaces below.)

I will refer to him as BF from now on.

BF has a site for wedding favors that is ranked #1 for Google.com , Yahoo, and MSN for the terms wedding favors and wedding gifts. BF also has a course called stomping the search engines. It talks about the importance of getting quality links back to your site to increase your page rank and overall rank position.

Now, I Jason Smith, don’t claim to know as much as BF or some of these other greats in the SEO field. But like I said I have learned a lot from them.

As of May 18th 2010, BF is #3 & #4 for the search term:

“The coolest guy on the planet” – Go to Google.com and do a search on that phrase.

I have seen many people slide from the 5-10 positions on Google for that search phrase.

I was looking over MF’s article on this same kind of experiment and here’s something cool I read.

“You see, BF and MF met in Las Vegas. And we were at a casino playing Blackjack. And I heard him say to a lady dealer, I am “the coolest guy on the planet.” And then he said, no really, type it in Google, and you will see bf.com I thought he was joking. But then later I saw he was not. Then I found that there is a club of SEO guru’s all fighting for that #1 position for “the coolest guy on the planet.” But no one could knock him off. So I told him I was going to get the domain names and we both ran up to our rooms and I went to GoDaddy and beat him and then got an alternative domain as well. Man was he mad. But I still had to do stuff with it.”

So now I wanted to try this out. I’ve been watching and studying BF, MF & many others and want to give this a try and see if I can pop up to #1 with Jason Smith being The Coolest Guy on The Planet. I don’t have the domain names, but like I said this is just an experiment to see if I can get to #1 on Google.

Now, as like MF stated on his site I am using the same reasoning. The reason I am using MF, JL, & BF and not their real names is that I am competing with them in this race to the top spot and I do not want to help out their rankings.

But I am using the term often in this article i.e. Jason Smith is The coolest guy on the planet, or The coolest guy on the planet is Jason Smith so that the keywords are added through out the article next to my name.

O.K. so now, to see if this blog really works and the back-links as well. I am going to post this article on my site and see if I can get links back to it by also posting it to article submission services.

I’ll be checking back now and then and see if I’ve gone from Jason Smith The coolest guy on the planet being ranked at… oh wait, NOT even being ranked on Google, to being ranked #1 or even #2 for The coolest guy on the planet really is Jason Smith.

I hope to see that this does work to improve the ranking. Then I will write another article about the results. But at least as you read this you can track it for yourself to see how well the articles have helped make Jason Smith The Coolest Guy on The Planet.

Do You Really Need a Guide For FarmVille?

I consider myself to be relatively well educated in the latest generation of social networking site games like Mafia Wars, Vampire Wars, and such. That’s why when I started to see these FarmVille guides popping up all over the place I was kind of surprised. I mean, I can see why people might need some tips to get going in games like Mafia Wars, but FarmVille?

At this point though I hadn’t actually played the game, but I didn’t really think it could be all that complicated. I figured I should give it a shot though, just so that I could say I knew what I was talking about. And I was in for a rather big surprise. In no time, I was out of money and had no crops to plant. I have to admit, there way more to this game than I had anticipated.

I eventually managed to dig myself out of my original hole and out of the red, but I still wasn’t making all that much progress. I started to think that maybe I needed to see what these guides were all about. I wasn’t really expecting much, but since I hadn’t done so well on my own either, I figured it was worth a shot.

So I picked up a guide called FarmVille secrets, and was pleasantly surprised by the tips I found in it. You wouldn’t think there were so many ways you could screw up a virtual farm, but believe me, you can. I was still stumbling along at level 6 when I got the guide after 2 weeks of playing regularly. Now I’m the proud owner of a plantation and a level 26 Sultan of Soil. And I still look back at my guide from time to time. If you’re having trouble getting into the swing of things in FarmVille, this guide is not a bad investment.
